When building work commenced on the Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate last year, it was seen as a milestone in the commercial property market in the North East. The new Axis 19 development was hailed as the region’s largest speculative industrial development for almost a decade.
For Northumberland Estates, the risk involved in financing this new build on a speculative basis paid off, with the commercial property team securing a fantastic new tenant for the new industrial unit prior to completion.
Advance Industrial Solutions (AIS) offers survival and emergency training for personnel involved in the oil, renewables and other offshore industries. With their headquarters close by they chose the Axis 19 to create a brand new, state of the art training facility which officially opened this summer.
With a specially designed swimming pool and fire training centre they are able to recreate disaster scenarios, offering survival training courses for many scenarios from helicopter crash landings and survival at sea to a fire on an oil rig.
The second phase of this development will see Northumberland Estates seek planning permission to create a further nine industrial units close by on a site totalling some 220,000sq ft.
