Northumberland Estates Trails - Hulne Park
Trail Status: OPEN
During the Middle Ages Hulne Park would have looked very different from today, more like a forest. Its transformation into stunning parkland was begun during the 18th century by Hugh, 1st Duke of Northumberland with the help of the renowned landscape architect Capability Brown.
The 1st Duke was also responsible for erecting the impressive Brizlee Tower with fabulous views across the park and the surrounding landscape, and for the restoration of Hulne Abbey. Further information about these buildings is provided on information boards within the park.
Today Hulne Park is also a centre for the Estate’s home farm and sawmill and wildlife abounds including many species of bird and the red squirrel. A unique, historic and beautiful place to explore.
Please note that Hulne Park is only open to the public between 11am and sunset.
Trail Open - GREEN - Closed - RED
